To ensure that the compressor works at its best, it is important to clean and maintain the filters. Filters protect the compressor against dust, dirt and other debris that can damage the equipment. Many industrial filters can be cleaned, and then re-used. You should confirm that your filter elements can be cleaned. Filters with high-efficiency filter elements, coalescing filters and special filtration media are not usually able to be cleaned.
1.As a precaution, turn off the compressor and allow it to cool completely before cleaning or changing filters. By blowing off dirt using compressed air, the cartridge is restored to its original condition. Blow off the inner filter element using about 100 psi. Direct as much air as you can towards the inside fins.
2.Always wear gloves to handle filters. They may be dirty or contain oil and other contaminants. After cleaning the filter element with compressed air or by hand, you can restore its like-new condition using soap and water. Avoid using abrasives such as steel wool, which can scratch the surface and cause the filter element to lose efficiency.
Replace the filter if it is too dirty/damaged or not washable.
3. Reinstall the filters into the air compressor, and secure with bolts/screws. Connect the air compressor back to the power supply and check its pressure and operation for the best results.
